The Work of Unbecoming
Share
Before we become, we let go.
Before we rise, we release.
Before we begin, we unbecome.
Lately, I’ve been thinking about all of the identities, expectations and quiet rules I’ve had to set down in order to feel like me. Not the version that’s polished or productive— but the version that’s present.
At SALT + SILK, we talk a lot about becoming. But unbecoming can be sacred, too. It’s what clears the space. It’s what makes room for softness. It’s the exhale.
Over the past few years, I’ve had to let go of the old rules I once believed made me a “good friend.” Always available. Always agreeable. Always showing up, even when I was depleted. Setting boundaries around my time, energy and capacity felt like betraying those old versions of closeness.
I've had to remind myself— you're allowed to change. You're allowed to let go of what no longer feels like you. That's not weakness— it's wisdom.
This is the energy we move with here. Ritual is not about perfection— it's about return.
If you're ready to let go of what isn't yours, the Scorpio Full Moon ritual might be exactly what you need.
You can find it here.
May it lead you back to yourself.
With strength + softness,
Jane
